FREQUENCY FESTIVAL 2017: Miranda Cuckson
Miranda Cuckson talked about jazz (what is spectral jazz?) between songs in Fullerton Hall at the Art Institute on Sunday afternoon, but I thought her violin was more punk than jazz. Maybe with a bit of metal thrown in too–some wicked fretwork that would make Eddie Van Halen proud, I thought. And were Miranda’s heels studded? I couldn’t tell from the back, but they looked studded. Maybe her heels got me thinking of punk and metal. It definitely wasn’t the $28 valet parking I heard the people behind me moaning about before the concert started. And it was way too quiet for a punk-metal show. All the better to hear the music.
